BETFAIR ACCA EDGE HANDICAP (CLASS 2) 1m 6f
There are a few in this that looked very exposed, apart from a couple in this, David Simcock’s Desert Encounter is a lightly raced four year old with not that many miles on the clock and was only seen twice as a three year old. His best finish at three was when runner up to Arcano Gold at Nottingham, the latter mentioned recently won last month at Pontefract off a rating of 79. Since turning four he has really come into himself, finishing third on his first transitional run at Epsom when behind Prendergast Hill who has actually failed to show that sparkle this year.
He has now gone on a sequence of wins which have come at Musselburgh and Doncaster on good and soft ground, but this will be the first time he will encounter this lively ground and the form he has left behind has been gradually picking up pace. What was the stand out point here for me is the fact that claimer George Buckell will not ride the Simcock entry here and has more elected to ride RESILIENCY.
He has been unlucky with the weather, running on unfavourable ground has probably seen him run much below his capability. The last time he got his conditions he won when trained in Ireland by David Wachman. He had just the one run here at Newmarket when finishing fourth in this last year. He is 4lb lower this time around and will be staying on in the closing stages with menace.
Resiliency : £20 each way @ 7/1 (BOG)
