Very disappointing to see only five turn up for this Grade 1 contest with a 56k first prize there for the taking. The only reason for this is the presence of the mighty Douvan, at 1/6 it is not a formality, as we saw yesterday when 1/4 shot Vautour came to grief, so you can not presume will happen on the day, but a plus maybe Paul Townend has a good booking of rides for his boss and can re-assure the punters he is a serious contender for next years Gold Cup market.
So who can over haul the mighty beast, in my opinion they will be fighting for the scraps, but with just over 21k up for grabs for the runner up its not a bad sum and with The Game Changer in he race who was going exceptionally well in the Arkle until hampered by the falling horse, he should be on paper the one chasing home Douvan here, but I do feel there is a big run to come from Neil Mulholland’s ‘FOX NORTON‘
He finished in front of The Game Ganger in the Arkle, and was another that was very much in-convenience by the falling of Vaniteux, he got back in to a stride and stayed on well all the way to the line, and I honestly feel if Vaniteux did not interfere with both horses then Douvan would of had a fight up the hill. I am willing to give Fox Norton another check at 28/1 which is over priced in my opinion. Sixth here two seasons ago in the Juvenile Hurdle contest, the first season chaser has honest reliable form and has never hit the deck in any of his races to date.
FOX NORTON : 1pt each way @ 28/1
